GTECH Signs New Contract with Lottery Operator in Finland

WEST GREENWICH, R.I., Feb. 28

GTECH (NYSE: GTK) announced that the Company has signed a contract to provide lottery equipment and services for instant ticket and on-line games to Oy Veikkaus Ab (Veikkaus), the operator of Finland’s national lottery. The contract award follows a competitive process.

GTECH has been providing equipment and services to Veikkaus since 1990. Under the terms of the new contract, GTECH will provide, on a turn-key basis, an automated instant ticket validation and accounting system, including 1,500 GTECH Validation Terminals (GVTs) for those retailers who sell only instant lottery tickets. In addition, GTECH will replace the existing communications system with its newest equipment and technology, and will provide at least 2,700 on-line lottery terminals, as well as a variety of services, including system installation and maintenance, and software development. The Lottery will be operated by Veikkaus from a data center in Vantaa.
